The reverse osmosis method refers to membrane methods of separation of liquid systems and consists in filtering salt solutions under pressure.
Conventionally, membrane water treatment plants can be divided into three classes:
  • Nanofiltration with a selectivity of 80-90% for the removal of iron compounds, trace elements and organic compounds in order to obtain drinking water.
  • Reverse osmotic with 99.6% selectivity for obtaining water used in the food industry (production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages), in the medical industry, preparation of distilled water.
  • Combined (reverse osmosis + ion exchange) to produce high-resistance water used in the electronics industry.
